The artisanal Yellow Vein, which is actually a thick lense rather than an actual continuous vein, is located near the old Valzergues fluor mine and was never mined for ore. It has however been known since the 1960's for outstanding large fluorite pockets. 12.3 cm large recrystallized cube displays the typical and sought after color zoning, with a yellow core and blue outer stripes. The display face is glassy and lustrous, showing tetrahexahedral truncation. Many small pyrite crystals are included just below the surface of the cube, making for a sparkling effect. This fluorite was professionally prepared (fracture sealed). The right tip was a bit loose with age and was reinforced professionally. A French fluorite classic of very good size.
