our collection the Fluorite
description :
Size: Large Cabinet 6 X 4.25 X 3.25 inches
A first class specimen of wild and crazy sea green fluorite from one of the worlds most acclaimed localities, the Rogerley Mine, Frosterley, County Durham, England measuring a whopping 6 X 4.25 X 3.25 inches in size. This wonderful piece has 100% top coverage of unusual deep sea green intergrown cubic fluorite crystals reaching a maximum diameter of one inch. The back and sides of the piece host many more fluorites along with a number of octahedral galena crystals that reach 3/8 inch in diameter. These fluorites are one of a kind! They are a very unique color, and exhibit a color change between natural sunlight and artificial light, being pure green under artifical light and green and blue under sunlight (photo's 1 and 2 are under sunlight and 3 is under artifical light). This locality is the only one in the world that I have heard this natural fluorescence occurring. They are also world class FLUORESCENT specimens, fluorescing a super bright purple under UV light. These are so fluorescent that you can shine a UV light on them in a lighted room and the glow is still vibrant!!
