A magnificent, old time example of native gold from this historic Colorado locale. This specimen consists of a showy group of intergrown, platy crystals of native gold。 This is not a delicate "leaf" of native gold but rather a substantial, thick, rigid group of intergrown, broad, platy crystals。 This specimen is almost entirely comprised of native gold! The native gold has metallic luster and a rich, buttery yellow golden hue。 Upon close inspection with a loupe or a scope there is much more detail to see。 The specimen was recently acquired from a Colorado native who bought it from the family of a miner who worked the mines in Leadville. The specimen likely dates back to the earlier 1900's.
