our collection the Torbernites

Musonoi Mine, Kolwezi, Kolwezi District, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo
Size: 5.68cm x 4.2cm x 3.87cm, Ex. Wm. W. Pinch Collection
An exceptional example of torbernite from this famed locale. This specimen consists of a striking cluster of large, sharp, intense green torbernite crystals. The crystals are particularly fine with glassy luster, razor-sharp faces, and marked clarity. The crystals range in size to an impressive 3.45cm. This specimen is from the collection of Bill Pinch and retains its original label. Torbernite specimens of such fine quality are next to impossible to find on today's market. The pics don't even begin to capture how fine these crystals are (upon close study there are some surprising areas of near gemmy clarity). This specimen retains a custom made, fitted acrylic base for optimum display (the label on the display says Shinkolobwe, which is also in Katanga, however, the piece is almost certainly from Musonoi as the original label states). Simply an amazing example of this colorful uranium-bearing species
